Biography
Martin Smith
Martin has a 25 year career history in investment banking. After a period with McKinsey, Martin was Head of Corporate Finance for Citibank in Europe, and subsequently Chairman of Bankers Trust International. He then became a founder and subsequently Chairman of Phoenix Securities, and following its sale to Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in 1997 he became Chairman of DLJ's European Investment Banking Group until its sale to CSFB in 2000. He is a founder and Director of New Star Asset Management, Senior European Advisor to Bain Capital Partners, Director of Odgers, Ray and Berndtsen, and has a number of other business interests. He is also Deputy Chairman of the Science Museum, Governor of the Royal Academy of Music, Visitor of the Ashmolean Museum, and serves on the boards of several arts organisations.
