Biography

Clare Hollingsworth

Clare is widely experienced at Board level, having been a Chief Executive of customer centric organisations for nearly twenty years. As a recent IDDAS Mentor, Clare provides access to significant expertise in leading complex operational businesses, being both a strategic thinker and effective communicator. She is particularly familiar with the Health and Travel sectors.

Clare is the Non-Executive Deputy Chairman and former Chief Executive of Spire Healthcare Limited, one of the leading private hospital operators in the UK. Prior to that, Clare was Managing Director of BUPA Hospitals from 1999 to 2007.

Clare started her career as a Management Trainee with British Airways and was one of a team of fourteen who led the culture change programme in the early 1980’s. She worked across the airline, eventually being appointed Managing Director of Caledonian Airways between 1990 and 1997. She led the Strategic review that resulted in the airline’s sale to Inspirations Plc then to Carlson Group and ultimately to Thomas Cook.

She is also a Non-Executive Director of Assura Group Ltd, a quoted primary health care provider organisation that partners with GPs, and Ambea AB, a 3i backed Scandinavian health and care business.
